G'day Joe,
Thought I would drop you a quick line to let you know how very pleased we are with the unit. It is such a time saver compared to hot water bottles & heat pads should have bought one years ago. The British Bulldog pups were born on 09/16/12, 7 in the unit all doing great. Once again many thanks for such a great problem free unit.

I just ordered a large digital brooder ( NH-3) from you and wanted to thank you for the excellent customer service. It is so nice to have such a pleasant experience. I asked you about your cooler brooder and you answered all questions promptly and even included a picture (which helped me in my decision process) - it was wonderful to talk to you on the phone and get prompt answers to my questions. It helped with the decision process and I am now confident I chose the perfect brooder for my needs.
I had some rather awful experience with the customer service of another brooder company in the past and truly appreciate all your help :)

Hi Joe, I received my brooder yesterday, I love it! I love the improvements over the last two I purchased from you in the last 5 years. Thanks for your amazing Brooders!!! I've raised over a Hundred babies in the last 5 years and I owe most of
My success to your Brooders!! They are the best out there!
Thanks again

Woohoo! Just got my new Petiactric nursery unit from Joe Freed and I LOVE IT! I plan to replace all my old dysfunctional AICU units with these ASAP! Thanks so much for your excellent service and product, Joe!

I have used Joe Freed's Petiatric Brooders for many years now. In addition to their designed use as hospital brooders for ill psittacines and for housing baby psittacines being hand-reared, I have also used them to house sick baby Callitrichids (marmosets and tamarins) requiring supplemental heat and close monitoring.
Once, I even used one of these brooders to assist-hatch a baby ostrich in an egg that was brought to me for an egg necropsy (autopsy)! However, once I started opening the egg, I found that the baby ostrich was quite alive and in need of assistance in hatching. Normally, a baby bird should require no help in extracting itself from its egg; however, this was a very special case. As the owner had thought that the embryo in this egg was dead, the egg had been kept at room temperature for close to 24 hours, so the little chick was too cold and weak to extricate itself from its shell on its own. I was able to maintain this hatching egg at the correct temperature and humidity until I was able to successfully assist the hatch, ending up with a perfect chick.
I trust these brooders for my avian and mammalian patients. They are reliable and easy to use and maintain.

Just in case I haven't said it lately or I don't say it enough....I LOVE YOUR INCUBATORS! I have no idea how I could ever survive without them! THANK YOU!
I received the order and I am so happy! The timing could not have been better. I plugged the unit in and let in run for 6 hours as the booklet said. Later that night I discovered one of my lovebirds huddled on the bottom of the aviary. I placed him inside the brooder to keep him warm and comfortable until the vet opened in the morning. I took him to the vet where he was prescribed Baytril and said that the brooder probably saved his life that night! I am glad that I purchased a Petiatric brooder to have for such a case. I have always had lots of birds and after spending a lot of money for boarding and hospital care at the vet to use their brooder, I took my vet's suggestion and invested in my own. I used to use a 10 gallon aquarium with a red reptile heat lamp on the top. I was always worried about a fire starting or too much heat for the bird inside! I could not be a happier customer! I recommend that anyone with birds invest in a Petiatric brooder!
Marilyn Galvan "About 21 years ago I purchased a brooder/incubator from Joe. I was raising birds back then, so had a great need for something reliable. It was one of his early units, but the quality was right on the mark and I was able to house tiny babies in it and never had to worry about the heat or humidity. I raised a mustache parakeet in this unit from being an egg to fully fledged! Joe has always put the safety and quality before anything else. Keep up the good work and I hope you have a great week ahead!"
Dawn Stanford it is people like Joe that help people like us keep the wildlife alive...Keep up the good work Joe.
Angela Ross I will go on record as a fan of Joe and Petiatric. I have 2 of your units and they ensured my puppies were healthy, warm and safe until they were ready to move to less secure environment. I recommend them to all.

Just a quick note to let you know that my intensive care unit has now officially been used, and I am absolutely delighted with it. The best part about it all is, what was first to use your hospital box just so happened to be a rare white bare nosed wombat pinkie. She came in, in a terrible state, presenting with neurological head trauma, seizures, refusal to drink resulting in IV ports etc – the list goes on. Two weeks on, she is a happy, contented, thriving little bundle of joy. The vets are amazed that I’ve managed to pull her through, but I honestly believe that the humidicrib has had an awful lot to do with it. Just being able to sit and watch her through the plexiglass, knowing that the temperature is spot on, must make a huge difference to the stress levels of an animal that has constantly got prying hands checking temps when on a heat pad every half an hour. Bare Nosed Wombats commonly vary in colour in Australia from black to silvery grey, however white is quite rare, due to a recessive gene. She is not albino, does not have pink eyes, and has a dark nose and eyes. Oh, and by the way – not once have I had to lubricate her up – her skin and the pads on her feet have remained beautifully soft due to the humidity in the crib remaining at about 43%. Sensational! All my nagging questions and persistence in following through with purchasing your unit from the States was so, so worth it, and I can’t thank you enough for all your patience with me.
With my warmest regards
Marc in Maine
We absolutely love these units; this order makes our fifth, going back more than ten years to our first Thief of Hearts, which we still use. We wanted to try a unit larger than any you make, so recently ordered one from another company. But we were dismayed at the workmanship we saw when we unpacked it -- details that weren't obvious from pictures on the website. We had an unpleasant conversation with a company representative when we called to make arrangements to return it. We didn't think the full restocking charge was appropriate given that we were returning the product because of its poor quality. But the person we spoke to wouldn't budge. When you add shipping and insurance to the restocking fee, we'll end up paying more than half of the cost of the unit just to return it. But we didn't feel comfortable trying to sell it to someone else, because it seemed to us that the unit was a biohazard waiting to happen. We wondered if the manufacturer had ever actually used one and tried to clean it afterwards. In order to take off the top, a large number of screws have to be removed. Even with the top off, it would be almost impossible to clean droppings from the seam cracks in the sides. The hanging wet washcloth said to provide humidity also provides a good medium for growing bacteria, not to mention the open water container being a good way to drown hopping nestlings. Last but not least was having to enter a password to change the temperature setting (oh, give me a break). We will never do business with this company again.
Thanks for being the best.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note about my baby cockatiels~
My baby cockatiels are behaving so differently that I am absolutely positive they are more comfortable then before I purchased your Aquatop Brooder. Before I purchased your brooder top & digital thermometer I used a heating pad and a cheap thermometer inside my 10 gallon tank. I just couldn't trust the heating pad and I was so worried about my babies that I was constantly checking on them day and night, wow was I tired. Anyway, I saw a complete difference in the babies behavior as soon as they were inside with the new brooder top. They started moving around and exercising their wings immediately, before they just huddled together, even though the old thermometer read the correct temperature for their ages.
Joe, I will recommend this product to all my bird friends and/or anyone who breeds birds.
Thank you so much for providing the most perfect brooder for our cockatiel family.

As I noted during our recent telephone conversation, I have been raising baby parrots since 1978. I can not actually remember when I started using the solid state Nursery Brooders, but it has to be well over 15 years. Since then I have had as many as 12 brooders (digital and solid state) running non stop from February (Goffen Cockatoo hatching / brooding time) through the end of September (Hyacinth Macaw hatching/brooding time) and have never experienced a unit failure or disappointment.
I have worked in the Quality Assurance profession since 1973 and would not hesitate to recommend your product to anyone who is serious about raising baby parrots and also have a desired to increase chick survival and overall aviary productivity.

I have known Joe Freed for several years, and have been continuously impressed with his professionalism, customer concern, and the quality of his product line. Unlike some of the many retailers in the affiliated bird industries, Joe Freed and Petiatric.com represent to me the "right stuff" as a good source of information and bird related supplies.

My first visit to your site and first order with you. Congratulations, you have an excellent, informative, easy to use web site. One of the best I have used to date. All questions answered, all descriptions clear good job, well done

Joe Freed, has shown honesty, and integrity in all my personal and business relationships in which he was involved. Joe is also an avid supporter of avian research. I honestly feel that purchasing from Petiatric.com directly supports your bird's health in many ways, and would recommend his products to anyone.

Just a note to let you know how pleased we are with your nursery hospital's. We are now operating 10 brooders in our nursery. We have found them easy to clean and maintain, as well as durable and reliable. We prefer to have numerous brooders running continually so babies can be moved to a lower temperature brooder as they mature rather than changing the temperature, which may result in dangerous temperature fluctuations. Your affordable brooders have made this possible. Thanks again for your excellent products.

Dear Joe,
I wouldn't do birds without the Nursery Hospital. I am able to take care of more emergencies helping keep overhead down because I have the instant environment we need for sick birds or injured feathered friends. When I started out with the first 3 pairs of cockatiels I used cardboard 14X14 boxes with corncob and a heating pad on low. It worked until we put the birds in a room that isn't centrally heated. They were chilling and that's when Joe Freed came to my rescue with the Nursery Hospital from Petiatric.com We now have 60 breeding birds. Timneh, Congo greys, Meyers, 7 colors tiels and 4 colors of Neophema.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my petiatric nursery hospital's They are probably the most economical for day old parrot chicks. I think they are ideal for the commercial breeder as well as the hobbyist. The science of aviculture is in a very important growth period right now and your company may play a vital role in modernizing the industry.

I own 3 of the old style nursery units. They run almost continuously 365 days a year and have ridden thousands of miles on trips to the doctors and shows. Before I purchased these units, I used a heating pad and I wonder now how I ever raised any babies. A good brooder is a must. I found your units to be very reliable and dependable. I was considering the purchase of a new unit and looked at several and seriously considered a unit from one of your competitors. But the deciding factor in my decision to again purchase my unit from you was the reliability and service you provide, and the performance and service I had received from the units I already owned. When the new unit was delivered, I could not believe how beautiful it was. I immediately disinfected the unit and plugged it up, it holds whatever temperature I set (by the way I ordered the wafer unit) and does not vary more than a degree or two. This unit is easy to clean and very easy to transport. I cant tell you how many people would stop and look at my old units and ask where they came from. They were so old and discolored I was embarrassed to take them inside the shows. Thank you for a product that lives up to what it is advertised to do.

I just wanted to tell you I have several different units from other manufacturers, and one of your digital units that I bought from a friend going out of the business, and I even have an aquarium topper of yours. I love your units over all of the others. Your units are more accurate and I just wanted you to know how much I love the products you sell.

I want to compliment you on the quality and reliability of your products. I currently have five of your brooders - three portable units and two hospital units - and they have served me very well for the past five years. I also have your egg turning unit which has enabled me to hatch eggs from pairs that either don't sit on their eggs or are egg eaters. It works perfectly and it has saved a number of very special mutation babies that I wouldn't have had otherwise. The portable units allow me to bring my babies to work with me - a very big advantage since I have an hour commute each way (I now have a multiple cigarette lighter set up to accommodate them!) which would have prevented me from being able to take them with me if not for your brooders. The temperature is always consistent, as I also have two hygrometers in each brooder as well to make sure all is well. Thank you for such great products and for helping to make me a better aviculturist.

After trying other systems, we ordered 2 of your 10 gallon tank top brooder units with the wafer thermostats several years ago. Immediately after starting to use them, our angst level lowered to nearly zero. We have now safely raised over 190 baby lories, most of them going to zoos around the country. We have recently purchased 2 additional wafer units, which we expect will extend the life of these tops for many years. Thanks for a very reliable product and great service.

I have spoken and written to you before, and you have been very helpful. I finally took the chance and ordered one of your incubators on line. It arrived today. I must say I am very impressed with the fast delivery, the size and appearance of the incubator. Thank you very much. It arrived just in time!!!

While at Frankenmuth-Birch Run Veterinary clinic, getting a c-section for one of my Pomeranian's, I saw your incubator that Dr. Buck uses at her clinic. Soon after, I ordered one just like it and I can't imagine being without it. I use it for newborn puppies, orphans and even adults when they are ill. When I am asked about it, I tell them it's the best money I have spent for whelping and I give them your website address and highly recommend it. Thank you for making available what I think is a superb product. My Poms thank you too!
From time to time, we receive requests from new customers
not familiar with our products, ask..." Who uses this equipment? "
We decided to put some of our more recognizable clients on our web page to show what type organizations utilize our equipment. Deciding which organization to post was very difficult, with over 20 years experience in making the finest animal intensive care units available, and having so many interesting groups, and friends in the animal business it was a very hard decision to make. However, it didn't take long for me to become completely overwhelmed.
It's easy to see why more Zoos, Veterinarians, and Aviculturists recommend Petiatric than any other manufacturer of animal incubators, and brooders.
