Congratulations, you have just purchased the finest animal intensive care unit created, the Nursery Hospital® Brooder by Petiatric.com. It is our sincerest wish to make our equipment available and affordable to everyone. Now - save yourself some time and headaches by taking a few minutes to read through these instructions. I know you're anxious to get started. Relax, have a cup of coffee, and read. You’ll be glad you did!

After you have unpacked, and studied the basic instructions and you still have questions please
do not hesitate to call, one of our staff will be glad to walk you through the set up procedures, to help familiarize you.  It is advised to run a new nursery hospital unit for at least 6 hours empty, to dissipate any new smell before placing animals inside.

Due to the danger and severity of animal diseases, it is impossible for us to accept for a refund or exchange any Nursery Hospital intensive care unit, incubator or related merchandise once it has been exposed to eggs or babies. Please make sure that this unit will suit your needs before placing anything inside.

Every model of our Nursery Hospital, Brooders, and Incubator uses the same thickness and quality of plastic.
For uniform insulation regardless of the price of the unit we will not compromise on the quality of our products nor will we cut corners on manufacturing by using inferior materials.
Precise molding assures a perfect fit.
You won't find any screws holding our units together. We build them to fit precisely without the need for additional hardware. When it comes to quality precision manufacturing, we know our business! Animal  incubators, brooders, and related components are all we do.... This means unparalleled attention to quality on all our products. In addition, you the customer enjoy those advantages.
Designed to be easy to clean inside and out for season after season.

Most brooders look good right out of the box, but after just one season of use the importance of being able to clean effectively becomes evident. Our Nursery Hospital, Brooders, and Incubators
completely disassemble so that you can really get them clean - and that's vital for the health of your babies. Once again, the absence of extra screws, hinges, and unnecessary hardware means easy cleaning and disinfecting.

Our Brooders, and Incubators were conceived and designed to be simple to operate and use.
Passwords, locks, and other "gimmicks" offer more room for error, and potential problems. More to keep track of, lose, or forget - particularly when you're feeding every two hours around the clock. Our units were designed so that you can pull them out season after season and not have to fumble for keys or remember passwords.

Our signature square shape was designed to offer extra security and mimic a natural environment.
With the three solid sides, and clear door gives ill, frightened, and very young animals more security, and less stress by replicating their natural environment. This is particularly important when treating wild, older, or non-imprinted animals. Our Nursery Hospital Brooders, and Incubators are used and trusted by more zoos, veterinarians, animal breeders, and aviculturists than any other company by providing the most optimal environments not only for birds, but for dogs, cats, monkeys, reptiles, and a score of other animals. Each Nursery Hospital Brooder, and Incubator is designed, and manufactured in house at our own facility, from the initial plastic molding process through the final testing, and packaging. We do not "farm out" any portion of the production of our
Nursery Hospital Brooders, or Incubators.

Only at petiatric.com can you expect this level of quality. When it comes to precision manufacturing, we know our business! Animal ( Brooders) Intensive Care units and related components are all we do....

Sincerely,
D. Joe Freed

User Instructions

After removing your Nursery Hospital®/Brooder from it's shipping container, you'll notice our signature square shape.
This was designed to offer extra security and mimic a natural environment. With three solid sides and a clear door, this gives ill, frightened, and very young animals more security and less stress by replicating their natural environment. This is particularly important when treating wild or older, non-imprinted animals.

  • The first step is to remove the top; the heating element, temperature controller and fan are mounted in the top. The ceiling panel or baffle just lifts out. The baffle is not only essential to control and maintain the proper airflow and temperature, but necessary to keep prying fingers, and little beaks away from the fan blades, and heating element.

  • The multi-directional scoop can be turned to direct the airflow to any desired area

  • When replacing the ceiling baffle, note the fan hole is off-set toward the back of the unit. Make sure the baffle scoop in directly under the fan, it only fits on one way properly. If you turn the scoop toward the front, you should be able to see the fan deflector if properly installed.

We offer three size Brooders in eleven different models.
More than any other manufacturer - so you can besure the Nursery Hospital, Brooder or Incubator you choose is right for you, and your situation. Our experience and desire to find the right fit for each application outweighs the convenience of offering only one or two models.

Sliding doors on all of our units.
Because they're easily removed and placed out of the way, our doors are made of Plexiglas. We offer this feature because Plexiglas being very durable, still has a fairly short life span, and scratches easily if not taken care of. Unlike hinged doors, ours can be replaced if scratched or broken. Removable doors make cleaning, and disinfecting simple and more efficient. Door opening on the Mini is 10"x 6" the A model is 15”x 9” the B model 21”x 9”.

Every Nursery Hospital/Brooder model 3 digital, and all solid state units are pre-assembled and ready to use right out of the box. For our mechanical temperature controlled Brooder units see the specific controller instructions for assembly.

On/off switch
This is the main power switch. Flip this to the on position. You’ll hear the fan start, and the red light will acknowledge the unit is heating up. The fan motor runs continually when the main power switch is on.

Red indicator light
The red light mounted between the power and auxiliary switch indicates the unit is on and working. Some models (101, solid state, and the wafer-assisted mechanical) are designed to blink, when power is being diverted to the heating element.

Aux. switch
There is a 110-volt outlet on the inside. One side has constant power going to it whenever the unit is plugged in. The other side works off the auxiliary switch and can be used for a night-light, baby monitor or Egg Watch Incubator. By plugging the Egg WatchIncubator in the constant power side, it will run continually. Plug it in the auxiliary side and it works manually with the Aux. switch Humidity Tray. The humidity tray is designed to produce between 35-45% humidity for 24 hours (Bacteria in water start to grow at higher temperatures after 24 hours). Higher humidity percentages can be reached by adding a small kitchen sponge in the drawer to increase the evaporation area.

Cleaning and disinfecting Your Nursery Hospital®/Brooders
Always unplug the unit from the wall before doing any maintenance or cleaning. Remove the humidity tray before lifting the top off. You can wash the bottom, sides, baffle and door with a mild soap, detergent or Windex. Rinse with lukewarm water. Cleaning the top, I use compressed air to blow the dust out, then wipe with a damp cloth. Please take note. "The tops are not waterproof do not submerge". To clean or remove any marks on the plastic use Soft Scrub with bleach. After you have received, unpacked, and studied the basic instructions of your new Nursery Hospital /Brooders and you still have questions. Please do not hesitate to call, one of our staff will be glad to walk you through the set up procedures, to help familiarize you with the make, and model of Nursery Brooder you ordered.

Maximum care extended warranty program

Our maximum care extended warranties are designed to offer peace of mind by literally extending the length of time a customer can expect to receive the maximum coverage.

As your nursery hospital gets older, the cost of repairs will increase. That's when you need protection the most! You should consider protecting your investment by extending your nursery hospital’s original warranty with our extended warranty. Our extended warranty covers all parts and all labor with the exception of the door (Because of the inherit nature of Plexiglas and its tendency to scratch, or warp. doors are not covered under any warranty) for the life of the nursery unit. The only cost you would incur is shipping both ways. This is the most value you can add to your nursery hospital because this extended warranty is transferable to the next owner.
